The American Cancer Society
has been a pioneer in cancer research and support. They also have
extensive information on tobacco use and its relation to lung cancer,
tips on helping to stop tobacco use, and facts and figures of tobacco
use in America. They also sponsor the Great
American Smokeout, a day where smokers strive to quit for a day all
across America.
The Foundation for a Smokefree America has a focus on bringing its anti-tobacco message to the schools to educate kids on the dangers of teen smoking. Statistics show that teen smoking has been on the rise since 1988 and Patrick Reynolds believes much of it has to do to the rise of cynacism and fear of the future among teens. Although stats posted from The American Cancer Society say teen smoking is down, still almost 35% of all teens use some form of tobacco.
