Great American Smokeout

Every year the American Cancer Society sponsors the Great American Smokeout, an event designed to get smokers to quit at least one day a year.  The event started due to the realization that one in every five deaths each year is caused by tobacco use.  The first Great American Smokeout was held in 1977 and since then millions have quit abusing tobacco.  The event takes place on the third Tuesday of every November.  For more information on the Great American Smokeout, please visit the official page sponsored by the American Cancer Society
